State Department for Lands and Physical Earns Another Top Honour for Digital Transformation

The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning has added another major accolade to its growing record of institutional excellence after winning the Public Sector Digital Transformation Award 2026.
The award, presented to Principal Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning Generali Nixon Korir, recognises the Department’s continued efforts to leverage technology to transform land administration and improve public service delivery.
Receiving the award, the PS commended staff for their resilience, commitment and teamwork, noting that the recognition adds to a growing list of achievements by the State Department.
“This recognition belongs to the entire team. It reflects the resilience, commitment and determination of our staff who continue to embrace technology to make land services more efficient, accessible and responsive to Kenyans,” the PS said.

The latest recognition builds on the Department’s strong digital transformation record. On 28 November 2024, the State Department emerged first among State Departments in All-Time Transactions on the eCitizen platform, recording more than 700,000 transactions.
The Department has continued to expand digital land services through Ardhisasa, the National Land Information Management System (NLIMS) and ArdhiPay, reducing reliance on manual processes and improving access to land services.
The Department’s institutional performance has also attracted national recognition. In the 2023/2024 Public Service Commission evaluation, it ranked second nationally among 508 institutions and first among State Departments in adherence to public service values and principles.

The Department subsequently rose to first nationally in the 2024/2025 PSC evaluation, scoring 82.2 per cent among 511 institutions assessed.
The 2026 Public Sector Digital Transformation Award, presented during the 11th Africa Digital Economy Awards, therefore adds to a growing record of recognition for a State Department steadily embedding technology, innovation and good governance in the delivery of land services.

For the Department, the recognition is both a celebration of progress and a renewed commitment to delivering efficient, accessible and citizen-centred land services through digital transformation.
