Speaking during the opening ceremony in Kamwangi, CS Wahome lauded Gatundu North Member of Parliament Hon. Elijah Njoroge (Kururia) for championing the establishment of the registry which will serve more than 30,000 residents in the area.
"I am delighted that Kamwangi Lands Registry is now operational and ready to serve over 30,000 residents. This is a clear demonstration of the Government's commitment to fulfilling its promise of bringing services closer to the people and ensuring every Kenyan can access land services conveniently," said the CS.

Earlier in the day, the CS had inspected the progress of the Gatukuyu, Kanyoni, and Kamwangi markets, projects that are expected to stimulate local economic growth and improve livelihoods.
She further announced that the Ministry will continue accelerating land reforms and digitization efforts across the country.

"We are committed to digitizing land records across the country to improve efficiency, safeguard documents, and eliminate opportunities for land fraud. Our goal is to build a modern, transparent, and accessible land administration system," she added.

Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary Hon. Generali Nixon Korir commended Gatundu North MP Hon. Elijah Njoroge (Kururia) for his commitment to making this project a reality through National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
He noted that the opening of the new registry reflects the Government's determination to ensure citizens receive services at their doorstep.

"The establishment of Kamwangi Lands Registry is part of our broader agenda to transform land administration and improve access to services. We want residents to spend less time and money seeking services and more time investing in their land and improving their livelihoods," said the PS.
PS Korir further emphasized that the Ministry is undertaking a nationwide digitization programme aimed at securing land records and enhancing public confidence in land transactions.

The Gatundu North MP welcomed the opening of the registry, noting that residents would no longer be forced to travel to Kiambu or Gatundu South to access land services.
"This registry is a major relief to our people. Residents will no longer incur unnecessary costs and spend valuable time travelling long distances in search of land services. We appreciate the Ministry for partnering with us to make this dream a reality," said the MP.

The Deputy County Commissioner for Gatundu North Margret Mbugua also used the occasion to warn individuals involved in the illegal grabbing of land belonging to widows and other vulnerable members of society, stressing that the Government would not tolerate such practices.
"Those taking advantage of widows and vulnerable families to unlawfully acquire their land should know that the law will catch up with them. We will continue protecting the rights of all landowners and ensuring justice prevails," she said.

The event was also attended by Thika Town Member of Parliament Hon. Alice Ng'ang'a, Githunguri Member of Parliament Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, local leaders, and residents.
