Government Issues Title Deeds to Support Recovery for Maai Mahiu Flood Victims

H.E. the Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, today issued 116 title deeds to residents of Maai Mahiu affected by the recent floods, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to restoring land ownership and supporting affected families to rebuild their lives.
Speaking during the titling event, Prof. Kindiki said the Government is committed to safeguarding the land rights of all Kenyans and ensuring that communities affected by disasters are resettled with dignity, security, and full ownership of their land.
"We are ensuring that every affected family has secure ownership of their land because title deeds are the foundation of dignity, stability, and economic empowerment.
Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki accompanied by CS Lands Hon. Alice Wahome and PS Lands Hon. Generali Nixon Korir and Nakuru Governor Hon. Susan Kihika when he issued 116 title deeds to residents of Maai Mahiu.
The Deputy President was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome and Lands and Physical Planning Principal Secretary Hon. Generali Nixon Korir.
CS Wahome announced that the Government will support the construction of a modern Maai Mahiu market to boost local trade and economic opportunities for the community.

This exercise restores not only land ownership but also dignity, security, and hope to families who endured immense loss. It reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting property rights and facilitating sustainable recovery for affected communities.
Also present were Nakuru Governor Hon. Susan Kihika, Bahati Member of Parliament Hon. Irene Njoki, and area Members of County Assembly.
